I like this one! (I was tagged by Barbara Nicolosi, who has very good news here.)

The only book on my nightstand right now is The Exorcist. I'm delighted to have it on my nightstand because I was afraid it had been sold in the estate sale by accident, until I found it a couple of days ago.
It's the paperback copy I was reading in high school when Chris and I were dating. It was the first time I'd ever heard or read the word "Jesuit" and it's where the early roots of that obsession began. I also think is hugely responsible for my eventually becoming Catholic.
Yes, I know none of that was asked in the meme. I'm telling you anyway. I'm also going to tell you that 20 years later, I got an e-mail from Bill Blatty telling me that he'd read and liked Dark Debts (!!!); we met for brunch and he signed my copy of yellowed and tattered copy of "The Exorcist." He wrote, "For Karen, who understands. With affection & admiration, William Peter Blatty."
When it's not lost and possibly in the estate sale (that is to say, up until our last move), the book stays on my nightstand where I can grab it and run if the house ever catches on fire.
So anyway... page 123.
"Yes, she is," agreed Sharon.
Chris rifled through the pages of the book. "What's the scoop on Black Mass? Pretty hairy?"
"I don't know," answered Sharon. "I haven't read it."
And I am tagging these five people: Jeff Miller; Joe Garcia; Sr. Anne; Patrick Archbold; and The Anchoress. That should provide a pretty ecclectic reading sample, if they all have time!

My gosh, how old is Bill Blatty? My high school civics/government teacher went to school with him in Georgetown, and he's over 90!

You know, I haven't done the math, but I don't think he's that old. When I last saw him it was '96 and he looked great and had young(ish) kids.
Maybe ha's around 70? I'm guessing. Whatever age he is, it's the new 40.
